Nicole & Andrew // Horseshoe Bend Engagement Session
I did this gorgeous Horseshoe Bend engagement session a while back but I knew I needed to feature it on my new blog. I can’t even begin to describe what an incredible experience it was, not only getting to know Nicole & Andrew, but being able to photograph them at two amazing locations: Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona.
I don’t think hour long engagement sessions are enough time to truly capture a couple. Sometimes it can take a bit for people to warm up in front of the camera; but what a lot of photographers won’t tell you is that it takes us a while to warm up, too. It takes time to observe how two people communicate with each other. I love taking the time to study people’s faces in order to show them the beauty that I see. I need time to take in the scenery and the lighting.
Movies have always been a huge source of inspiration for me (in fact, I’m currently in school for screenwriting!), but movie magic typically happens with a whole team of people. For engagement sessions, it’s extremely intimate and it changes depending on the couple. Some couples feel most comfortable with lots of direction and jokes. Others feel more comfortable with something more quiet and observant. Sometimes it’s a combination of both.
Part of my job is to figure out what is necessary for the couple. Me being the Gemini that I am, I can adapt depending on what is needed.
Then you need to get in touch with me PRONTO!
